We celebrated our wedding anniversary recently, which has become a sort of gateway to summer for us. And as the nature-loving girl I am, I wanted to celebrate with some outdoor fun and relaxation! We scrounged for our fishing equipment, packed some snacks, and then made a stop at the store for some bait. The day was cloudless and beautiful, and we enjoyed a gorgeous drive to Kepler Lake, a peaceful lake in Palmer. We rented a rowboat and plunked our lines in!
The next day, our actual anniversary, started off very Alaskan! First, I felt an earthquake (if you want to be amazed, check out the recent earthquakes site of the Geophysical Institute to get an idea of just how many quakes we get in the state EACH day!) and then had a black bear run across a trail RIGHT in front of me while I was on a walk with a friend! After work, my husband and I had a delicious anniversary dinner and then took a stroll on the boardwalk at Potter Marsh. It was late enough in the evening that I think the birds were all roosting, though I don't know how they can really tell it's time to roost when the sun stays up way past their bedtime this time of year!
